TO THE UNKNOWN GOD
They claim to know him but they know Him not,

They have replaced him with images of gold, stone, silver and wood,

And imaginations of their minds, their limited minds,

They do not understand that their customs are worthless, vanity,

Their idols are like scarecrows in a cucumber field, they cannot speak

If one cries to them, they cannot save them from their troubles

Their gods have to be carried by them for they cannot walk

They have become beasts of burden, Instead of freedom, they sink deeper into captivity

They say, ‘I do not worship an idol, just a higher power‘

Have they revealed themselves to you?

Claiming to be wise, they became fools,

Exchanging the glory of the immortal God for images, worthless images

Some have even thought of themselves as gods,

How stupid a thought devoid of knowledge,

For every goldsmith is put to shame by his idols,

For his images are false, no breath in them, a work of delusion

We are all goldsmiths, crafting trees into beautiful idols

Until we come to the full knowledge of the ‘Unknown God‘

Let me introduce you to this Unknown God

He is the one who says, ‘Heaven is my throne, earth my footstool, what house will you build me?‘

He further asks, ‘To whom will you liken me and make me equal, and compare me that we may be alike?‘

He is God and there is no other, there is none like Him

He is the one who calls out, ‘Turn to me and be saved all you ends of the earth for I am God and there is no other‘

Nations may ask, ‘Where is this God?’

Well, our God is in the heavens and He does what He pleases,

But He is also not far from us, for in Him we move and live and have our being

We are His offspring He is the Unknown God,

Who stretches out his arms all day long to an obstinate people

The God who became incarnate that He may redeem us to Himself

Worldly religion calls for man to propitiate his gods

But this God pacifies his own wrath by His own actions

His own arms worked salvation

This is the Unknown God,

Who cannot be limited to the scope of our imaginations

For who can fathom Him

The Unknown God who loves us enough to be patient with us that we may not perish

Yet just enough to not let any sin go unpunished

Turn ye to this Unknown God

Who many claim to know but know Him not

Repent therefore and be saved that ye may be one with the Unknown God

The Lord Almighty is His name

Grace & Peace
