Do you understand what the providence of God means? Do you care to take time, note and thank God for the providence He bestows unto you? Do you understand that everything in our lives is ordered by the providence of God for the glory of His NAME?

John Flavel has given an in-depth observation on the topic of Providence and has broken it down into three main parts with various sub-topics in this enlightening book, mainly:

1. The Evidence of Providence

2. Meditation on the Providence of God

3. Application of the Doctrine of Providence

He has based the theme, Providence, on this verse, “The God that performeth all things for me’ Ps.57:2.

This book is an interesting tool for the Christian to understand how providence works in every stage of our lives for the glory of God and how to be content with whatever Providence brings your way. I highly recommend.

WHITEWASHED TOMBS

Posted: August 10, 2012 in Poetry

Do you see them?

Like whitewashed tombs, they live each day

Smiling and chanting happily

Good on the outside but pained on the inside

Like whitewashed tombs

They are dead and rotten inside

The stench of their rot suffocates them daily

They try to scream for help but their throats are clogged

Like whitewashed tombs

No flesh is remaining only skeletons that are hidden but threatening to come out

Like whitewashed tombs

We pass them each day but ignore them

For they really do look okay

No skeleton in sight, no stench that kills, no sad faces to note

Like whitewashed tombs

Flowers of all kinds have tried to grow around them

What’s inside though, cannot be cured by the scent of the roses or the splendour of the lilies

Like whitewashed tombs

They need a Savior who can see into the depths of their aching hearts

Give them the healing they need

Like whitewashed tombs

Only a Saviour who rolled his own stone away can save them

And give them life and in abundance

They need the resurrection and the life

The one who can command the dry bones to live

Replace your years of affliction with great joy

The whitewashed tombs

Only God is their healer

SWEET PROVIDENCE

Oh how sweet the Providence

That set me on the path of mercy

When all I ever deserved was wrath

Tis’ Providence that wrought in me the work of grace

That leads to the sanctification of my soul

Sweet Blessed Providence

When I knew not the perils that prevailed upon me

Before fear could overtake my heart

Providence had delivered me from all eminent danger

Though pain and sickness afflict my body

Providence has never let me walk alone,

Always comforts me, always holds me, healing me and giving me grace to endure

Sweet blessed Providence

I may not be of noble birth

Nor able to sit among kings and princes

But Providence has secured for me a place in my family

In which love and harmony is the rhythm of our soul

Sweet Blessed Providence

When others walk in scarcity and loneliness

Providence blessed me with a home

Though humble and of common birth

Many a times my eyes have glimpsed unto the grave

Pestilence, great and small have followed me

But thy rod and thy staff they comfort me

You never allowed me to sink to the grave

I will sing of thy mercies

Sweet Blessed Providence

Thou hast given me work for my hands

And Thou orders and directs my steps daily

From the breaking of dawn to the setting of the sun

It is Providence that what I do is what I love

Let me never forget the small mercies of Providence

Sweet Blessed Providence.

Grace & Peace.
