What if the flowers refused to bloom and instead shrivel and wither away

What if the crops refuse to yield fruit and waste away

What if the cow stopped producing milk and we are forced to take water instead

What if your boss has denied you your wages and you are forced to beg

What if your parents don’t see the good in you but always the bad

What if every man, every woman you love ends up hurting you

What if every business you start never gets to excel

What if your wife doesn’t honour you but looks down on you

What if your husband makes you feel less and less like a woman each day

What if your loneliness seems to get deeper by the day

What if you feel no one can understand you

What if you feel like death would be the perfect answer

What if you, what if I, what if we feel all this

We are always reminded of this in Habakkuk 3:17 – 18

Though the fig tree does not bud and there are no grapes on the vine

Though the olive crops fail and the fields produce no food

Though there are no sheep in the pen and no cattle in the stalls

Yet, I will rejoice in the Lord

I will be joyful in God my Saviour.

Grace and Peace
